Recovered Classic
I've teamed up with the Creative Action Network on their new project, Recovering the Classics.
I chose to do Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness because I distinctly remembered the prevailing gloom. Most covers default to an image of men on a ship or an old photograph of a steamer crew with "natives."

I wanted to pull more from the imagery Conrad uses, as he frequently references clouds and, of course, darkness. The cover is intended to evoke the literal trail of smoke a steamer would generate, as well as a yellow sky before a bad storm, and, more generally, the presiding theme of light versus dark.
Check out the rest of the covers and maybe even consider buying mine one!
