Speaking of bears, here are some bear cards I made for my Digital Illustration final Spring Semester 09.  The text on the back was never completed but you get the idea.
(Under the cut bonus!  An apology card to print out and give to your friends and loved ones!)

Bloggers block

I know it's been a good long while since I touched this but Susanne vs. Finals is not really a fair match.  Here is a cow but look closer at this cow.  Yes.  This relates to an article about the yellowstone bison who are killed when they leave the park due to the fear that they will infect the cattle.

This is a sort of totem pole like stack of animals that are all connected to the dying Whitebark Pine that the beetles are destroying.

I've been slacking on the updates a little bit but a combo of being sick, preoccupied, as well as working on a lot of longer-term assignments is to blame.
Here is a project I did with a couple of my roommates (Laura Korzon, Lorraine Nam) for a collaborative illustration show. There's not a whole lot to say about it and it sadly fell into many pieces when removed from the show. RIP, Monster.

South Padre Island

This is the map I created of South Padre Island for my editorial class. I was the one person in class dumb enough to make a map when we had about three other choices for the Texas Bound article. I actually kind of like it which I don't think would have been the case with seven spots or some weird half page mash-up.

Here's a few things I've done this semester. Not my favorites, but in the interest of keeping up my blogging regimen here we go:I'm not going to explain these, I don't think. I don't really feel like it right now but they are more children's book illustrations.

Children and such

I am in a class right now where I have to write children's books. It turns out, that though I am half eight, (not four, like half of me) the other half is like a creepy uncle that frightens kids with anecdotes they are not ready for. So half the time I am totally inappropriate. I'm not actually an uncle.
Here's some art:

End of the World

Here's a little something I cooked up for Chris Buzelli's editorial class a couple of weeks ago. The assignment was to do a cover for the New York Times Book Review for Hardboiled Wonderland and the End of the World. Needless to say, I was thrilled to have a book about split brains and unicorns.

I know the picture isn't the very very best but this is post three of blog and we're all going to have to assume I'll get better at this.

I believe drawing was one of my very last crits of freshman year, and the first moment I felt really confident about choosing Illustration as my major. Of course not everything fell into place after that, it's just nice to think about those instances when things suddenly click and know that it's going to happen again. So here's some seemingly irrelevant old work.

the idea of the blog is that it will motivate me to scan my sketchbook and document my work. it may just be a reminder to the world that I am good at neither scanning nor documenting.
